A.1. Free hospitality exchange

This is excellent for short holidays, weekends, and bank holidays. It's Ideal for young people and couples, who will have the possibility to visit new places, with free accommodation.

You can get to know new people in an open and friendly atmosphere.

This type of exchange is suitable for fun-loving, outgoing people, but it can also be a way of helping people to win their shyness.

If this way of travelling enters our way of thinking, it will certainly transform our approach to organizing our holidays and it might even become our favourite type.

Example: say you live in Florence and wish to go and see a live concert in Milan. A member of HD who lives in Milan could offer you to stay overnight, or even for the weekend. In this way you would avoid hotel costs or an exhausting journey home.

You could then return the favour by inviting the other member to visit your hometown, maybe during some special event or occurrence.

Example: Simone and Sara love to tour Italy. At weekends they exchange the hospitality with other member couples that share the same enthusiasm.

Example: Chiara of Naples shall be Nancy's guest in Sydney; they became acquainted through the network.

Example: Carlo and Marta senior citizens with lots of free time to spare, thanks to the hospitality exchange, can finally explore new places and save on travel expenditure.

A.2 Free family hospitality exchange between the members' children

This is a great opportunity to help your children learn a foreign language. Once this organization starts to expand, new friendships will develop and a network of home exchange will be created among families.

A.3 House, camper/caravan or boat exchange
 

Suitable for all needs, in particular for average-long holidays.

Exchange can be made in residential (property or rental) or holiday homes.

Even boats and comfortable campers/caravans (homes on wheels) can be exchanged.

You will fill in your preferences in the profiles concerning various types of exchange.

Original travel itineraries can be proposed where other members of HD might find interesting to take part in. Fresh ideas are always welcome.

Example: Marco and Laura, a young couple from Isola D'Elba, will be making a tour of Andalusia in spring and shall sleep in the camper offered by Mr. and Mrs. Helguera who in August will use the house of the young couple, away on another holiday, and can also use of their small boat.

Example: Mirco and Claudia of Palermo cannot afford their honeymoon. HD members offer them a place in Paris to stay. The couple will return the favour on another occasion.

A.3.1 Holiday house exchange

For instance, you could offer someone a skiing vacation in your holiday property in the Dolomites in exchange of a seaside holiday in Calabria. You could finally see New York at Christmas by exchanging your home on the Tuscan hillside.

Once families have set up a closer relationship, they can swap their homes during agreed periods of the year. A great vacation without having to fork over cash for hotel accommodation, with all the safety of entrusting their homes to reliable people who can water the flowers and maybe even look after the pets.

All useful information is to be provided, such as number of available beds, bathrooms, household appliances, use of meters, laundry services, street maps, details on local bus/train services, museums, galleries, sports facilities, entertainment programs, sightseeing spots, etc. Once the application form has been filled in, it is to be forwarded to us where it will be entered and catalogued in our files.

The exchanges can be made in different times of the year, for instance university students who leave their flats vacant during the Christmas or summer holidays. University towns are usually very interesting and cultural places to visit, and this type of exchange should be taken into consideration.

Swapping homes is a great way of visiting new countries. You might even think of renting out your home. This way you would increase your income.

You can finally go on that trip you have always dreamt of but never had the occasion to do. Now everything will be easier. HD is here to help you !!!

A.3.3. Camper/caravan and boat swapping

At last you can use your house on wheels or your boat house in exchange of new hospitality swapping.

Example: The Greens this summer cannot go on their usual camping holiday in Sardinia where they have parked their caravan. The White's of Padua have been offered the use of this caravan for their seaside holiday in June. In July and August however the caravan will be let out to other HD members. In this way the Greens can cover the expenses without having to move the caravan and they will also have the opportunity of spending some time at the Bianchi's holiday property in Venice.

Example: In spring Franco and Lucia are going on a boat-swap in Florida that the Smith family put at their disposal. The Smith's, who love Italian cooking and wine, will be coming to Italy in autumn and will be using Franco and Lucia's camper to tour around the Chianti hills in Tuscany.

RENTING OUT AMONG MEMBERS

Exchange of cash, rents and insurance coverage

Being a member of a serious and well organized club will enable you to travel on a "rental" basis at special prices and to everybody's advantage, and not only to the traveller's.

As a matter of fact, we have an active and vital market by reducing prices: tourism will actually be able to raise the value of your home.

A great number of contacts will also guarantee a high profit.

Besides, free from all ties, you can decide to rent out your property with HD whenever you like, even in times of the year when the market is low.

You could even pay off the mortgage on the house itself with the earnings. In this way, the house immediately becomes an investment from which you will gain the benefits.

Example : Luca and Silvia who live in the Casentino area have inherited a large old farmhouse. It has been renovated into two bedrooms and on-suite bathrooms and a common kitchen. With HD rents they will have earnings all year through without incurring in any unplanned expenses. Moreover, the rent of camper/caravan or boat will transform a latent resource into a rich source of profit.

Example: Giorgio of Brescia rents out is camper on HD in the months of May and June. In return he can pay off all the relevant annual insurance, tax and service fees of the vehicle.
